2025 BMW 5 Series Engine & Performance Specs
With three available engines and the vaunted BMW xDrive AWD system, the 2025 BMW 5 Series engine and powertrain setup promise both thrill and practical drivability in equal measure to the Los Angeles driver. In this overview of the 2025 BMW 5 Series performance, we’ll consider various facets of the 2025 5 Series specs, including the BMW 5 Series 0-60 mph acceleration time, BMW 5 Series MPG rating, and more.
2025 BMW 5 Series Engine Options & Specs
The three available engine options are listed below, along with horsepower, torque, and performance specs like the BMW 5 Series 0-60 mph time and top speed. Except for the entry-level BMW 530i, all other trims come to our lot in Glendale equipped with BMW xDrive AWD, and all trims have an 8-speed sport automatic transmission. The PHEV 550e xDrive is upgraded with an 8-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission, but both transmission variants are capable of both sport and manual shift modes:
2.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo I4
Available On: 530i, 530i xDrive
- Horsepower: 255 hp
- Torque: 295 lb-ft of torque
- Acceleration: 5.9 seconds / 5.8 seconds (with BMW xDrive)
3.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo I6
Available On: 540i xDrive
- Horsepower: 375 hp
- Torque: 398 lb-ft of torque
- Acceleration: 4.4 seconds
3.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo I6 + Electric Motor (PHEV)
- Available On: 550e xDrive
- Combined Horsepower: 483 hp
- Combined Torque: 516 lb-ft of torque
- Acceleration: 4.1 seconds
- Top Speed: 130 mph
While top speeds for the non-PHEV trims have yet to be specified by BMW, it seems reasonable to speculate that the rest of the 5 Series lineup will be capable of performing similarly to the 550e xDrive. In addition, the 550e xDrive can be boosted to a theoretical top speed of 155 mph, though you will need an increased top-speed limiter and performance tires to achieve this.
If you want to learn more about the capabilities of the 2025 BMW 5 Series, contact us and we can arrange a test drive for you. While we cannot promise that you will be able to test top speeds while driving with us (theoretical or otherwise), you may be able to get a feel for the BMW 5 Series 0-60 mph time, at the very least.
