Why Do Some Body Shops Waive Deductibles?

Why do some body shops waive deductibles and others don’t?

The deductible is the portion of the repair work that you are responsible for when you make a claim on your policy, and the amount of the deductible is chosen by the policyholder when they sign up for a policy.  Some body shops make the business decision to waive deductibles for customers in order to earn their trust and business.

In reality, the only way they are able to waive a deductible is by not performing all the repairs that are necessary to put the car back the way it was before the accident.  This includes repairing parts that require replacement, or even worse, leaving a damaged part on the car, or not repairing damage that isn’t visible.  This jeopardizes the safety of the car, and if the vehicle is a lease, could result in severe penalties or you may be forced to fix the vehicle again the right way.  Repair facilities that are willing to participate in this kind of manner do not have your best interest in mind.

As Ben Franklin once said, “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.”
