WHAT’S NEW IN THE 2020 BMW X1?
Introduced in 2015, the BMW X1 has quickly become the best-selling X vehicle worldwide. The 2020 BMW X1 includes updates the ensure that it has the technology, performance, and comfort that BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicle lineup is known for.
Upon first glance, the biggest difference in the 2020 model is the larger, more aggressive kidney grill. This update brings the X1 in line with the brand design of its larger siblings, including the X3, X5, and X7. Front and rear bumpers are updated with a more sculpted design and larger openings. Larger exhaust tailpipes complete the look in the back. The M Sport Package also includes redesigned bumper, side skirts, and rear diffuser for a more aggressive aerodynamic package. Adaptive LED headlights and LED fog lights are available as an option.
New exterior paint options include Storm Bay Metallic, Jucaro Beige, and Misano Blue Metallic. Most of the previous color options carry over.
On the inside, the 2020 X1 comes standard with an 8.8-inch central control display with iDrive6, Navigation, and Apple CarPlay. A larger, 10.25-inch display is available as part of the Premium Package. Contrast stitching accentuates the new interior and the optional Dakota Leather adds color-matched door handle surfaces and dashboard. The gear selector has also been upgraded with an electronic switch connected to the updated 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
New 18-inch Y-spoke bi-color wheels replace the previous wheel design with a no-cost option of 18-inch Double-Spoke Jet Black wheels. All-season tires remain standard, but non-run-flat tires and performance tires are available as an option as well as 19-inch Y-Spoke wheels. Engine options remain the same and vehicles can be configured in either rear-wheel drive sDrive or all-wheel drive xDrive.
Production begins in July 2019 with an expected arrival in showrooms in the fall.
