The New 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe
The 2nd Generation of the BMW 2 Series arrives with more power and style. The rear-wheel drive compact coupe platform receives improvements across the board with a focus on delivering maximum driving enjoyment.
Both the 230i and M240i models feature upgraded choice of engines. The 230i features a revised 2.0-liter 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbo that produces 255 hp and 296 lb-ft of torque. The rear-wheel drive model reaches 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. The M240i receives BMW’s 3.0-liter 6-cylinder TwinPower turbo engine, making 382 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration from 0-60 happens in a quick 4.1 seconds. Standard across the 2 Series range is an eight-speed Sport Steptronic transmission. A rear-bias all-wheel-drive system is also available for both models.
A newly developed Sprint function is available for the first time ever. Included in the Shadowline Package for the 230i, this mode automatically shifts the transmission into the lowest available gear when the left-hand shift paddle is pulled for at least one second. It also switches all of the powertrain and chassis settings to their most sporty arrangements.
The chassis of the 2 Series receives two-joint spring strut front suspension and five-link rear suspension. This combined with lift-related dampers and lightweight materials reduce unsprung pass and provides extra damping without sacrificing control and rigidity. The M240i includes an Adaptive M suspension and M Sport rear differential as standard.
The BMW 2 Series maintains the sporty exterior of its predecessor. Long hood with short overhands provide the classic BMW silhouette. The new BMW kidney grille further contributes the performance of the car. It features electronically operated vertical air flaps that open in ten stages to provide air cooling for the engine when needed. The kidney grille is surrounded by individual circular full-LED headlights meant to evoke the BMW 2002.
The BMW 230i Coupe arrives with starting MSRP of $36,350 while the M240i xDrive Coupe starts at $48,550. Market launch is scheduled for November 2021, with the 230i xDrive and M240i Coupe set to debut shortly after.
