THE NEW 2020 BMW X5 M AND X6 M
Performance is hallmark of every vehicle from BMW’s M Division. That continues to be the case for even the largest models with the unveiling of the all-new 2020 BMW X5 M and X6 M. More power and performance combine with unparalleled luxury and personal connectivity to create the ultimate expression of individuality.
A true M car needs an M engine, and these two feature a world beater. The 4.4 liter TwinPower turbocharged S63 V8 engine makes 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. This is the same award winning engine found in the current BMW M5. The sprint from 0-60 happens in a flash at 3.8 seconds. Power is routed through the M Steptronic eight-speed automatic transmission to the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. The Active M differential keeps all that power in check. Additionally, the M Sound Control allows customers to adjust the exhaust note from a softened rumble to a primal roar.
The M xDrive system works full time to keep all 553 lb-ft of torque in check. Although it is all wheel drive, the system defaults to a rear bias to create the handling characteristics BMW M is known for. Furthermore, a standard Adaptive M Suspension Professional with Active Roll Stabilization is standard. This keeps the suspension predictable and linear while providing superb handling and comfort.
COMPETITION, NO COMPETITION
The Competition versions of the X5 M and X6 M take things to the next level. An extra 17 horsepower is on tap, bringing total output to 617 hp. 0-60 is a tenth faster at 3.7 seconds. Kidney grille surrounds, exterior mirror carps, model badging, rear diffuser trim and exhaust tailpipes are finished in black. On the inside, additional knee padding is added to the center console to enhanced track use.
Pricing starts at $105,100 for the X5 M and $108,600 for the X6 M. Competition models come in at $114,100 for the X5 M Competition and $117,600 for the X6 M Competition. All four models arrive in showrooms in Spring of 2020.
