The benchmark luxury sedan returns for a seventh generation to reset the bar for premium automobiles. At the pinnacle of BMW’s luxury range, the new 7 Series will set the tone for elegance, luxury, and premium quality.

A Diverse Lineup

Three models will be available by the end of 2022. The 740i is powered by an upgraded 3-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine that makes 375 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of max torque. The 760i xDrive is powered by a 536 horsepower 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 partially developed by BMW Motorsport. Both gasoline engines feature a 48V mild hybrid system that increases power and efficiency for lower emissions. For the first time ever, the 7 Series lineup gets a fully electric vehicle with the i7. The i7 xDrive60 features two high efficiency electric motors for a combined output of 536 horsepower and 540 lb-ft of instant torque. The i7 sprints from 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds and has an estimated range of up to 300 miles.

A New Dimension of Presence

The expressive exterior of the 7 Series reflects its place atop the BMW luxury class. The vertically aligned illuminated kidney grille and split headlight design give the 7 series a powerfully distinct presence. Optional Swarovski crystal details in the headlights take it to the next level. Visually expressive Welcome and Goodbye Scenarios make every journey in the 7 Series special. One non-metallic and ten metallic colors can be had on the 740i and 760i while the i7 gets an additional three metallic colors. For the first-time ever the 7 Series can be finished in BMW Individual two-tone.

First-Class Appointments

Pure luxury awaits every occupant of the new 7 Series. Premium materials, precision craftsmanship, and minimalist design underpin the exclusive experience. It all starts with the BMW Curved Display, a fully digital 12.3-inch information display combined with a 14.9-inch control display screen that surrounds the driver. The BMW Interaction Bar makes its debut in the 7 Series. In addition to providing ambient light, it houses a touch-sensitive control panel for adjusting climate control, activating hazard lights, and opening the glove compartment.

In the rear, newly developed multifunction seats are standard on the i7 and available across the range. Active seat ventilation and massage function can also be specified. For even more luxury, BMW Individual Merino leather/cashmere wool creates a unique impression. A digital control unit is integrated into each rear door. This 5.5-inch color touchscreen allows passengers to control the entertainment system, climate control, seat adjustments, ambient lighting, and rear sunshades.

An Authentic Cinematic Experience

A highlight on the options sheet of the 7 Series is the BMW Theater Screen. This 31.2-inch 8k touchscreen features built-in Amazon Fire TV and Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound. Passengers can stream videos from popular apps in 4k, play games, listen to music, and watch downloaded programs – all while on the road. The Diamond Surround Sound System, developed with input from Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer, also features a 4D audio function that vibrates the seats for improved perception of bass frequencies.

The First-Ever i7

Following in the footsteps of the BMW iX and i4, the BMW i7 xDrive60 features fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology and a host of improvements. The adaptive recuperation feature has been further honed to optimize energy recuperation under braking through traffic light and downhill recognition. The charging software has also been refined. Instead of following the previous “stepped” curve, charging at higher levels now drops off at a smoother rate for shorter charging times. The i7 can also store customized charging settings for multiple individual charging points. As part of BMW’s Electrify America program, i7 owners get three years of no-cost charging on the largest open network of DC fast chargers in the U.S.

Market launch is set for Q4 2022 and pre-orders are now open for the i7 xDrive60.
